League Champions! On to States! Last Week of Summer Swim!
Hi Team-
I want to thank you all for a wonderful weekend at League Championships. We are League Champs, for the 4th year in a row! We had some great times and phenomenal swims. Many kids learned more about themselves as competitors and as swimmers. Some highlights for me would be watching many kids competing in their first League Championships and competing in longer events like the 50 free and the distance events on Friday.
I saw many kids putting together pretty inspirational efforts and you all should be proud of your contributions to the team. One of the best things about League Championships is that we get to compete as a team. So although swimming is an individual sport we get to work together and contribute in events that may not be our favorite event but we do it because it is best for the team. It’s all about getting points for the team and working together.
Also many swimmers got to experience the joy in competing in championships and the fruit roll up eating contest. Coach Taylor lost the fruit roll up contest but won the prestigious Golden Whistle Award. Congrats Coach Taylor we are so proud of you bringing home the win even if you got bested in the fruit roll up contest. Now Taylor joins Coach Kari in the Golden Whistle club!
Ok now down to the business of rounding out the season. States entries are done. Check your apps for swimmers events. I will be sending out more information as I get the team assignments for jobs and other details of the weekend.
If you are staying for Saturday evening in White River Junction, we have a loose reservation with Wicked Awesome BBQ on Saturday 8/2 at 5:30. They have a nice outdoor area we can take over but it is first come first serve. Families can order food to go then have it at the picnic tables outside. Morning session families come earlier and then flow out with afternoon session families flowing in. They do close at 8pm so we will have to leave before then.
Wicked Awesome BBQ:
Stay tuned for other details.
Here is a message from my swim team committee:
Thank you to all of the families who helped to contribute to the BTC Buddy Bags for the CVSL championship meet this weekend.
As we head into our final week of the season, here are some reminders from the BTC Swim Team Committee:

- Bring your own plates, cups, utensils, beverages, and chairs/blankets.
- A photo booth will be available for swimmers during the banquet.
COACH APPRECIATION WEEK, 7/28-7/31
- All swimmers are encouraged to create a thank you note/art for their coaches. Make sure to put the coach’s name on the note/art. Swimmers can bring a card from home or make a card before or after practices.
- A collection bin will be available on the picnic table by the snack bar window during morning practices on Monday, 7/28, and Tuesday, 7/29, and at the start of the banquet.
- Some families also like to give a monetary gift– this is completely optional. If you are planning to give a monetary gift, you can give cash, check, or use Venmo. The Swim Team Committee will take this collection and distribute it among the coaches.
- Venmo Kelly by searching for @Kelly-Melasky (the last four phone digits are 3845). Make sure to note that your Venmo is for the “BTC coach gifts”. The deadline for all donations is Tuesday, July 29 by 8 AM. There is no obligation to contribute.
- Thank you to those who have volunteered to drop off breakfast treats for the coaches this week. Those can be dropped off during any of the practices and left on the picnic table by the pool house.
Thanks everyone for all your help. Teamwork makes the dreamwork. I will see you at the pool for the last week of Summer Swimming!
Coach Hilary
