Day 2- off to a great start! Reminders for the meet.
Hi Team-
It is really great to have so many new and returning swimmers filling the lanes and giving the pool lots of energy and filling our days with fun! I want to take a moment to send out some mock meet information for this Thursday. This is another night of fun where swimmers and parents can get some experience running a meet in a low stakes environment. It allows us to make sure all our systems are a go for next week and beyond.
To get in the routine of a usual home meet schedule. I would like us to have swimmers arrive at BTC around 4:45pm for warm-ups at 5pm. I want to start the meet as close to 5:30pm as we can so we can try and be out of the pool at 7-7:30pm. We have a hard stop at 7:45pm because I need to get home to watch the Olympic Swim Trials at 8pm! There has been some great racing already 2 world records, Gretchen Walsh with the 100m fly and Regan Smith with the 100m back! It's on NBC and goes through the weekend every night at 8pm, its worth a watch.
Tips for the meet: You have to sign up for the meet and jobs through swimtopia. With so many young swimmers on the team. I have the meet entry deadline for 7pm the night before each meet. In fact it would be great if you sign up or declare whether you are attending or not for all the meets on the calendar. It is much easier to take swimmers out of the meet than put them in the meet. Also check out the jobs and sign up for them as well! There are many, many jobs that need filling every meet. If you have any questions or concerns about a role please send them my way, I am happy to help.
Parking at meets is always tight. Please remember there is not street parking available if the lot is full you must park at gutterson at UVM. There is plenty of free parking there and it is just a short (~3min) walk through a cut-through path highlighted below in the attached map. For home meets, as the home team, I ask us all to park there. So it is good to get in the habit.
Around 3pm or sooner on a meet day I will publish the heat sheets on swimtopia and then you are able to see what events, heats and lanes your swimmer is in. The Swimtopia app gives updates and reminders it is great, it is a very helpful tool for meet information.
As always I am here for questions, if you have any send them my way. It is a ton of fun. It sounds like a lot when reading through the list of reminders but once you have done a couple it is easy peasy. Ok well, that is all I have for tonight. I hope you all are having a good night. Take care and see you at the pool!
