Regular Season Starts Tomorrow 6/19!
Hi 2023 BTC Barracudas!
I am so honored to be your leader again for my 2nd season as head coach. I look forward to another great season. I love spending my days mostly immersed in water and talking about swimming. We are going to have so much fun.
For those of you who don't know me I grew up on the Plattsburgh side of Lake Champlain and swam in the Adirondack district and for Peru High School, where I set many records in IM, fly, and breastroke events. I went on to represent Amherst College in Div. 3 NCAA swimming championships. I set a college record in my best event, the 200 Breastroke. All my records are broken but what remains is my love for the sport and my lifelong friendships I formed with teammates along the way. I have 3 kids, 12, 10, and 6, who also swim for BTC. I hope to create a team of swimmers who 20 years from now still love to swim. I hope your swimmers form summer friendships that last a lifetime. Summer swim is so special, it is a lot of work for us parents, but it is so incredibly rewarding to see swimmers who can barely make it through a 25 freestyle, transform over the summer to a swimmer who can swim all 4 strokes with ease and stamina.
Now for the weekly items of business.

We will be hosting our first meet, an intersquad meet, this Thursday June 22nd. This is a good opportunity for us all to get used to running a meet again and all the jobs that are required to successfully pull this off. Please browse the meet sign up calendar and mark whether you plan on attending. All undeclared athletes will be marked as not attending by noon on the day of the meet.
We will plan on having warm ups at 5:00pm for the 12&Unders and 5:30pm for the 12&Overs with a meet start time of 6:00pm. Meets take a ton of parent and volunteer power please browse the job sign up list and sign up to help.
Ok, that is most of the business I have, if you have questions please reach out. For practice groups we try to balance factors, such as, age, ability, and numbers in each group. We use the first week to determine what is the best fit for your child. Let me know if you have questions. Also for your information I have attached a team special events and meet calendar for the 2023 season.
Thanks to everyone for your lengthy attention span, I look forward to coaching your children. Happy Sunday and happy Father's Day to all the Father's on this email list. Thanks for all you do.
Cheers,
Hilary Stanton-Geddes
