STA Meet Recap and BCC Meet Planning
First Home Meet Recap
Thanks to everyone who pitched in and made last night a big success. Also thanks for bearing with us as we are adopting this new meet management system, all of it is a learning process. I appreciate feedback and will try my best to make it a better experience for us all.
I want to give a special shout out to my coaches: Grace, for always helping swimmers find their way to their races, to Cassie and Fiona for being the first to show up to help and the last to leave, and to all my swimmer/coaches who are racing and finding time to help wrangle kids, give encouragement, and be a positive force on the pool deck. We could not have run the meet without the support of all of you.
Also to parents, officials, and volunteers you are my heroes. It was a long action packed night, it takes a large amount of people power to pull this off, I appreciate you. A special shout out to the snack bar and the 3 families at the grill, the Sharkey's, the Melasky's, and the Sutherland's for feeding over 200 people last night. Job well done! We are always looking for more help to lighten the load for the next meet. So please check out the job list or reach out to me if you have questions.
As for your kids, I think we had a great first meet experience for many. I love witnessing the energy of the kids as they cheer each other on, or seeing a teammate step up into a relay spot when another is having a hard time. They are all learning what being on a team is all about, they share in the joys of a first race or the disappointment of a not great swim. Also with each meet they learn a little more about the sport of swimming and about themselves.
Great job team! I have attached results. They are also available in the meet schedule tab/past events/ BTC vs. STA section of our website. You may also want to consider the Swimtopia Premium package on the app, which gives you realtime (and historical) results for $10.
Shifting gears ... BCC meet tomorrow entries due by 12pm tomorrow! There will be no deck seeding so only those entered at 12pm tomorrow will be allowed to swim.
This meet is the COTS Donation Night
Each year the CVSL (our swim league) has a night on which we collect donations to give to COTS (Committee on Temporary Shelter) which provides emergency shelter, services and housing for those people who are homeless or marginally housed in Vermont. Each age group is assigned items to bring as donations (see chart below). We ask that you bring full sized items and not travel sizes if you are able to donate.
